Delegates meeting

Venice Police Explorers Post 86 is a member of the Florida Association of Police Explorers. Our members attend three meetings a year anywhere in Florida, where all the Explorer posts in the state share information about their activities. There are more than 85 posts in the association.

The Explorers do joint training to prepare for state ranking competition. You may learn more about this at http://www.floridaexplorers.org.

Explorer Academy

The Venice Police Explorers attend an academy for two weeks. There are three phases in which Explorers participate:

Phase 1 is a class for the new Explorer, which focuses on basic law enforcement.

Phase 2 is a more advanced class for the Explorer who has passed Phase 1. It allows for hands-on training and includes police range time.

Phase 3 is for Explorers, 17 years and older, who have completed the other two phases. Its focus is field training. The Explorers go out into the field with officers and see law enforcement activities first hand. They have the opportunity to visit the medical examiner's office and ride with marine patrol. They will work a case from start to finish.
